Russell holds a Diploma of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, previously known as the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Russell has released two solo albums featuring his original compositions, 'Simple Life' and 'Survivor', and has also led the Naked Melody album (Australian Sun Records), showcasing the Flugelhorn.
