Vivian Wong and Joel Donnelly’s story will always have a strong global feel. The couple met in Hong Kong, became engaged whilst overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Malta and married in Orange, New South Wales.
Joel and his brothers had grown up surrounded by the gorgeous farms and vineyards of Orange, and his parents still live there. They knew the perfect setting for the ceremony – a towering old oak tree – and the majestic landmark inspired the stationery, decorations and setting for their big day.
The intention was to have a short and sweet engagement, but the pressures of juggling a new job and overseas wedding preparations proved difficult.
Some of the groundwork had already been done, but the couple was in desperate need of someone to bring it all together, and event specialist Brooke Allott from Something White was the solution.
“Looking back, I still think Brooke is an angel sent from above! From the first few email and phone exchanges, I knew that we were on the same page; it was as if she read my mind on everything. We had the same vision of what the day would look and feel like - intimate, chic, classic and a whole lot of fun.”
Three years to the day after they met, Vivian walked down the aisle on the arm of her proud father, wearing an exquisite, “simple but elegant” gown.
“It was the first one I tried on, and I instantly fell in love with the lace detailing and vintage satin belt,” she said.
