WHEN PAMELA COWELL RECEIVED A PHONE CALL on the way to her wedding asking her to wait at the end of the driveway, she assumed that the photographer wanted some last-minute shots. Instead, she was greeted by the owner of the venue – and some shocking news. Pamela’s husband-to-be, Sean Killen, had been knocked unconscious after hitting his head during an epileptic seizure 20 minutes before the ceremony!
“The drama of the previous few hours heightened the emotion of it all, and as I walked down the aisle towards my amazing husband to be, it was the best feeling in the world,” Pamela said.
Pamela looked exquisite in her strapless ivory gown with its intricately beaded bodice and delicate tulle overlay. Her rose bouquet was threaded with pearl buttons from her mother’s wedding gown, while her mum’s childhood bluebird brooch became ‘something borrowed and blue’. The pretty, vintage theme extended to the wedding reception, which was held at the same location as the ceremony – Stones of the Yarra valley.
“The reception area was rustic and stunning as it was, so decorations were kept simple but beautiful. We decided not to cover the tables with cloth as they were made of solid oak and were too beautiful to cover, and elegant crystal candelabras, hurricane lanterns and tea light candles added to the romantic atmosphere.”
“We are hoping our children will use the knife on their wedding days and add their date to it as well,” Pamela said. With their first anniversary fast approaching, Pamela wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day – despite the headaches (literally!).
