Jaccinta Medcalf says Tomas McCarty’s proposal came out of the blue – particularly given that she almost ruined her own surprise.

“I was involved in a terrible car accident the day before, and was quite shaken by the experience, so had cancelled plans to have dinner because I really wasn’t in a celebratory mood,” she explained. “In the end, I decided to go, thinking that it might actually take my mind off things, and boy it sure did!”

The lead up to the wedding was exciting, with Jaccinta putting her work as an event and project manager to the ultimate test.

“It all came quite naturally, and I really enjoyed planning an event where I could pick and choose things that both Tom and I loved,” she said. “We liked the idea of a classic wedding with a vintage twist, using a white and soft smoky blue colour scheme with green thrown in to the mix.”

Her dream finally came true on the sunniest of autumn days. “The highlight for me was walking down the aisle - I laughed and waved to all of my friends, and I could see Tom smiling at the end waiting for me,” Jaccinta said. “It really is a fond memory of mine, and makes me smile every time I think of it.”

And then there was the dancing; a slow waltz to Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, before the band really got the party started.

“It was such an emotional experience to think that all those people were there to celebrate your relationship,” Jaccinta said. “I was quite overwhelmed by the love in the room.
