“Neither of us is particularly good at event planning so I can say it was pretty stress-free because we left it to the experts at Georgeous!” Emma said. “We knew that we wanted it to be a great party and we were open to suggestions when it came to creating a day that really reflected our personalities and style.”

Colour played a strong part in their big day, from the bold use of seasonal blooms to the eclectic vintage tableware at the reception inside Fitzroy Town Hall. The bridal party added to the rainbow effect; each bridesmaid chose her own dress, creating a unique combination of styles.

“Most of the girls live in Brisbane so they flew down for a shopping weekend which was fun and another excuse to catch up,” Emma said.

Steve and his groomsmen wanted something they could wear again, and had their suits tailor-made, while Emma chose a couture gown from a Melbourne designer.

“I remember feeling nervous about walking down the aisle in front of everyone at the church but when I saw Steve, I just felt happy,” she said.

The couple’s arrival at the reception was an unforgettable moment, as it was their first chance to see the room in full splendour. Tables were decorated with autumn leaf branches in tall vases with smaller floral arrangements in bright colour bursts sitting underneath. Vintage plates and cutlery and soft candlelights added the finishing touches.

Photographs of family weddings formed part of the reception space, and a collection of the newlyweds’ favourite things were displayed on a table as take-home gifts for guests.

“Footy cards and beer from Steve and home-made onion jam and Haigh’s chocolates from me,” Emma smiled. “It was a fun way to say thank you for our perfect day!”
