Emily Brown and David Milne wanted a beach wedding with a relaxed feel, and West Beach Bathers Pavilion was the perfect venue. One of three change rooms built on the foreshore in 1928, it’s not only part of Melbourne’s history and culture, but offers stunning views over the water with spectacular sunsets; simply perfect after a hot summer’s day.
A yellow and white stripe theme featured in everything from the invitations to the drinking straws. White day beds, chairs and tables helped to transform a deck area into an outdoor lounge, with black, yellow and white striped cushions, black and white umbrellas and buckets of sunflowers all adding to the summer theme. An assortment of dahlias and sunflowers were also used as centrepieces.
Atlantic Group Catering created a gorgeous menu accentuating the summer theme; guests enjoyed soft shell tacos and chicken tinga with pica de gallo canapés, with fresh mixed mini truss tomatoes, basil peach and mozzarella side dishes. “We also had a amazing ice seafood station on the deck which had help yourself prawns and oysters, and roving desserts like lemon meringue tart and vanilla panacotta with raspberry jelly were served on a vintage trolley,” Emily said.
Temperatures on the day of the wedding reached a whopping 41 degrees but Emily remained completely relaxed, looking a picture of elegance in her “dream” gown, with its backless design, which incorporated lace from her grandmother’s wedding dress for ‘something old’.
