Davina was in Europe to celebrate her brother’s 30th birthday when she met a close friend of his, Aaron. After the celebrations ended and Davina returned to Australia, the pair talked every day, with Davina flying over to Dubai for their first date! They continued a long distance relationship with catch-ups all over the world until the couple finally decided Davina should move to India so they could be together in the same city. “Aaron proposed when I was pregnant with our daughter India on our regular morning swim at the beach,” Davina said.
The day of their wedding dawned sunny and bright for the ceremony at the gorgeous Vaucluse Amateur 12ft Sailing Club on Sydney Harbour. Decorated by leading Sydney stylist, Form Over Function, an eclectic mix of white flowers in an assortment of glass and tin vases and cheerful red and white bunting gave the historic sailing club a fresh, sunny feel. Davina looked beautiful in an exquisite gown created by her mother who owns a bridal store, whilst the couple’s daughter was their flower girl. “She loved getting dressed up and painting her nails just as much as me,” Davina said.
With just eight weeks to go before the big day the couple discovered that Davina was pregnant again. “Mum made two gowns just in case the first one didn’t fit,” Davina said. Fortunately on the day she was still able to fit into her first gown and decided to wear that one for the ceremony, changing into the second one for the reception.
While the location of the ceremony celebrated the best of Sydney’s harbour, Davina and Aaron’s evening reception was a mix of rustic and contemporary with an industrial edge. “I wanted to have our ceremony on the water so our visiting friends and family could experience the true essence of Sydney’s beauty. I also wanted to incorporate my love of architecture and design and have our reception at a venue which captured all the little things we love. We couldn’t have found two better places that set the tone more beautifully,” Davina explained
